Queen Worm Farm's Story...

Our journey into the world of beneficial insects began in 2024. My original thought was simple: raise Red Wiggler worms to give my quail, chickens, ducks, and geese a much-needed protein boost during our long northern winter months. I jumped right in—ordering my first 1,000 adult worms and 2,000 cocoons. I’ll admit, I really had no idea what I was doing at first, but if you know me, you know I always jump in with both feet!

A couple of months into the journey, I discovered something unexpected: working with the worms was incredibly therapeutic. I have been a gardener for over 20 years, and I’ve always found it magical to feel the soil between my fingers. I found that same magic in the worm bedding. I looked forward to the end of every month just so I could spend time maintaining the bins.

From 1,000 worms to 10,000...

Whatever I was doing, the worms loved it! They began to multiply so fast that I suddenly had an amazing amount of them. Because there was no local breeder in our area, people began asking to buy them for their own composting—and just like that, a business was born. As for the name? I started calling myself the "Queen" over all my royal worms, and Queen Worm Farm became official!

As I continued to research the best nutrition for my feathered friends, I discovered that while worms are "magical" for the soil, Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) are actually a superior food source for poultry and quail. In 2026, we officially expanded to include BSFL to better serve our critters and yours.

Red Wigglers: The gold standard for local composters looking to create "black gold" for their gardens.
-
Black Soldier Fly Larvae: A nutritional powerhouse specifically raised to feed and fuel your poultry, reptiles, and fish.
