I have grown National Pickling Cucumbers for over 15 years. These plants never disappointment me! I love the flavor and firmness of these cucumbers along with how prolific they are. They do have the little black spines on them which are easily rubbed off.  I grow 8 plants every year and pick gallons of cuccumbers.
